How can I create an online store?

I’ve been trying to set up an online store for the past 2 weeks and have signed up to about 5 different webhosts who all claimed that I could easily set one up with their services. The last one I tried was dot5hosting and while I could set up the site relatively easily, it used something called OsCommerce which meant that my customers would click on a link and be redirected to another site where they could buy my items.

What I want is just one simple site. Categories on the left which, when clicked show products and information with a buy now button. This should then take them to a checkout. I basically just want a simple shop like all the others you see on the net but I haven’t been able to get this with my past 5 hosts.

I have no html knowledge so would need some kind of sitebuilder and a shopping cart facility.

Also, I’d like to spend less than £10/ (I won’t have that many products on the site at first).

So can someone please recommend me a good site?

amazon and yahoo both have easy to use sites.
there stores are pre-built and you just enter your product info.
you could also use half.com or an ebay store and just link your webpage to one of them.

    i reccomend yahoo.

    http://store.yahoo.com

i reccommend selling on ebay and for evey succesful sale refer them to your website and tell them to tell a friend if you do not want to use an ebay shop i suggest making a website with microsoft office live it is free all you have to do is type in your visa number on the website and the rest is up to you you can choose a simple design and make a proffesional free webiste without haveing to have .tripod or .googlepages they also host it which is great you have to type in your visa card number to verify you are over 18 and so that they know this is an individual webiste not several people getting them one per credit card is what they say here is a link below.

First, osCommerce can provide just what you are asking for and is a very reasonable answer. It does not necessarily redirect to another site for product purchases, though it is possible to make it appear that it does if you do not understand how URLs and domain names work, or that it will do so if you select a cheap payment processing service which requires this redirection. That last is true of ANY cart or shopping site you might select.

Second, cheap eCommerce hosting is widely available. A quick search on any major search engine will return millions of hits. Narrow the search down and look for free cart installation, and ecommerce specialists. Good eCommerce hosting specialty hosts will often install the software FOR you, talk you through configuration and should be able to advise on payment and shipping services.

The fact that you’ve tried with 5 different hosting services and still don’t appear to know WHY your cart redirected tells me two things. First, you have the persistence and flexibility which is key to succeeding in web business. Second, either you learn slowly by whatever approaches have been taken by these hosts, or you haven’t gotten adequate support.

    Try hosting-4-creloaded.com.
